So a cause that is very close to my heart is helping those with disabilities. An amazing movie was given to me this summer called Darius Goes West. It is an uplifting account of Darius, a teenager who has a form of Muscular Dystrophy that will take his life before he leaves his 20's. In an attempt to raise awareness about this challenge that confronts him every day, he made a documentary that won many independent film awards. The story follows his first trip outside of the county he grew up in across the nation to California where he was requesting that his wheelchair be used on the MTV show Pimp My Ride.
Proceeds from the sale of the movie go to Muscular Dystrophy studies where experts are quite sure they can find a cure for this disability in our lifetime.
